Only a handful joined the contest so I chose to judge the sets of category together as one instead of separately. I was hoping to get at least 20 entries when I started the contest last August, but since only eight (8) entries were submitted I got a lot more points to spare. So... I decided to give everyone who joined at least a token of those points. I am buying everyone's creations, nobody loses and it's a "win=win" situation!
My only request is that none of the eight (8) entries will be deleted by their creators, so that I can properly credit the original designs when I start using the characters.

Aquatic Creatures drawn in two sets of category:

hero
villain

This a drawing / painting contest, so no writngs or photography or photomanipulations.

The contestant may choose to draw for just one category if he/she wishes to!

I'm currently constructing a story/comic/manga involving my pirate OCs fav.me/d5jahcl and, of course, sea creatures. Basically, I need eight sea creatures/tribe leaders to become part of my story/comic/manga. Their design must be original and extremely unique (please please please!) As of the moment, my mind is blank as to how to design such OCs. I need the community's help for this so I decided to make it a contest to also celebrate my 1 year in dA!

You are free to decide and design for your own. Be creative! Keep in mind that not all beautiful creatures are heroes and not all ugly ones are villains. Your imagination is your limitation!

BONUS!! By just submitting a valid entry, a contestant will automatically get 5

at the end of the contest! If he/she submits 2 valid entries, 10

will be given!

How to determine if your entry is valid? Read and follow all the Rules please!

Rules

Digital or traditional drawings only!
Must be new (submitted to dA after Aug.11, 2012).
Say in your description it's made for this contest with my icon and a link back to this journal.
All resources (reference, brush, texture, meme, etc.) must be credited.
For second place to be included there must be at least 20 entries. For third place to be included there must be at least 40 entries. So, if you want to raise your chances of winning, be sure to encourage your friends to participate!
DO NOT USE bases. DO NOT COPY others' designs.
Drawing must be FULL body (no portrait, no waist-up, etc.)
Must be FINISHED (No sketches, no work-in-progress, etc.)
Can be colored or monochrome.
If it's only lineart, it must be clean and without shading or shadows.
Any style is okay.
Weapon and armor REQUIRED.
Backgrounds and powers NOT required but will make entry awesome!
Only 1 character per entry.
Contestants may submit up to 2 entries (1 hero entry and 1 villain entry). REMINDER: The character in your 2nd entry should not be the same person in your 1st entry.
If contestant submits 2 entries for both category, he/she may win twice!
If contestant submits 2 entries for same category, he/she may win only once.
All winning entries will belong to me! Winners may still use the characters they designed whenever they want to, of course.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both heroes? No.

Both villains? No.

One hero, one villain? Yes.

How can you know it's a hero or a villain? Say clearly in description.

Together in one drawing? No.

One character per entry? Yes.. So that they can be judged individually.

"2 entries" mean? Instead of just one deviation, you will submit TWO deviations.

If I submit a hero and a villain, that would count a "2" to the total, riight? Yes.

Are we required to submit two entries? No. It is only optional.

You may submit only one entry if you want to, BUT you have to choose the category: hero OR villain. Rule # 15 applies only when you want to submit to both category.

Background image? Not required, but you can paint if you want to.

Personality or history in description?
Not required, but you can write if you want to.

Minions? You decide.

Can the characters be related like relatives or friends or mortal enemies?
You decide. Again, character history is not required.

Can they have feet or paws instead of tail or tentacles?
Yes, but they must also have other body parts showing
that they belong to the water and they are not ordinary land dwellers.

Can they have animal ears like, for example, an usagimimi with a fishtail or like a werewolf with fins and scales?
What!? I've never heard or seen anything like that before! How can you see a werewolf's scales if he has fur all over his body? LOL! LOL! LOL!

With weapon BUT without armor? No. "Rule #12: Weapon and armor REQUIRED."

With armor BUT without weapon? No. "Rule #12: Weapon and armor REQUIRED."

Should the character have some kind of an action?
You decide. The character can be doing something or simply posing.
What's important is to see the character design itself, like body parts, armor, weapons, etc.
It can even be a simple character sheet if you like!

Can we submit a collaboration? No, because this is an individual's contest.

Do i have to be a member of hellion-delta to submit my entry?
No. You do not have to be a member to submit your entry.
